Your Lesson Has Not Been Learned

This is my disclaimer: to the folks who are not creative types or entrepreneurs, this post may not apply to you. Now that that is out of the way, I can go about my rant in peace. One of the hardest this that I have a problem accepting in my new industry is the inability of people to be empathetic. Lately I have surrounded myself with individuals who, like me, are hustling their way to the top. I've heard so many stories of being rejected, working for free, and having their work negatively criticized. Their best advice to me is "to have tough skin". Associates aside, I'm very familiar with the story of a successful person who was treated like dirt all the way up the ladder only to repeat the cycle to the next individual who aspires to be as successful as them. My question is: How is this admirable?

Breaking Into Society

I had taken a long much needed sabbatical from life to allow myself the opportunity to evaluate what was important and what needed to be changed. Feeling secure, able, and confident at my accomplishments I decided it was high time to make a name for myself again with society. I dedicated a whole week to spending time with friends, and family only to find out that my hiatus had caused a negative side effect on my social skills. At one point in time I was revered for being able to articulate with precision my life dreams, my goals, and general perspective on most any topic. But this week I flip flapped my way through many sentences trying to understand why oh why I can't find the words to say? How on earth can I claim to be a blogger and author if simple subjects placed with adjectives in combination with verbs escape me?

Great Sounds: Adele

I am so ecstatic about this album! I've been bumping to Adele's singles "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone like You" since December of last year. Adele's first album "19" was a Grammy award winning success. She took gut wrenching heartbreak and turned it into a lovely soulful album. Once again heartbreak is the outstanding theme of her new venture "21".

Amel Larrieux - Get Up

An addition to my post "Are you going to get up?"

Are You Going to Get Up?

Shawshank Redemption is by far one of my most favorite movie with a plethora of quotable. I could watch over and over again the story of a man with every reason to lose hope rising like a Phoenix from the ashes. It truly allows my mind to think about the things that lie ahead on my path to happiness. We all know that happiness comes with a hefty price. It is no secret that life will knock you down hard. Tragedy, heartbreak, and excruciating pain are all part of this "process" that we must go through to become the person we so desperately want to be. I for one can say it scares the hell out of me knowing that I will once again be asked to prove myself worthy of life's riches. And once in the process the constant suffering is enough to make a person wonder "why me"?

Cupid Reigns!

Jadore! Besides Christmas Valentine's day has to be one of my absolute favorite days of the year. To dedicate a whole day to love in all shape forms and fashion is truly exemplary of the ability for mankind to show compassion to it's fellowship. While most people focus on the more romanticized, Shakespearean like ways of celebration, I tend to reflect on love and what it means to me. Love is my best friend. Love is the one emotion that compares to no other feeling. Love ignites euphoria which makes us happy, which make us appreciative enough to give back to other people. If we are to continue living in this universe with each other it only make sense that we love each other; flaws and all or drown forever in sorrow misery and solitude (what a drab!)

I'd like to sound uber intelligent and write words of great inspiration but they simply escape me at this moment. It all comes down to this, if you should wake up this morning without a person in this world to love, let it be known that I love you. And somewhere out there is some mysterious person you haven't met yet whose waiting to love you. If you do have someone to love, I encourage you to show your affection to nauseating extents. If you have a lover make love to them until you grow weary with exhaustion. We may not be overwhelmed with love every moment of our lives, but for the few seconds it wants graces us with its presence I say let it in!

14 CHEESY WAYS TO LOVE
  1. With a Card
  2. With a Call
  3. By Sending a Random Email
  4. With a Meal
  5. With a flower
  6. With a unique date
  7. By hold hands
  8. With a compliment
  9. Through support
  10. With a great dessert
  11. With a hug
  12. With a kiss
  13. With a song
  14. By simply saying those infamous three words..."I Love You"
Don't wait another moment for love to come knocking at you door. Know that love already exists within you. We are all destined to receive love, for that you can be sure of. Thank goodness cupid sits around waiting to give us a little push along the way. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday to Me

25 years of life have past and I am both enamored and blessed to still be alive. On birthdays we are traditionally the main attraction. We get ourselves dolled up and plan celebrations so that our friends and family get an annually reminder that we still exist. Today I want to do something a little different. Today I want to take a day to show my gratitude. My existence seems so small in comparison to the many lives that have changed me. Today instead of throwing a grand celebration I pay homage to every individual I have ever met. To the people who I am so lucky to call friend, I thank you for making me laugh, cry, and keeping me thoroughly entertained. To my family I thank you for pushing me, inspiring me, driving me nuts, and loving me unconditionally. To my readers, I thank you for listening me and supporting my dreams.

To my best friend, my sister, my partner in crime I thank you for giving me a reason to live.

This year of all years I learned my birthday allows me to remember the people things and life lessons that have made me. I thank God for giving me another days to live. Another breath to breathe, another day to smile. This post truly cannot express the shear gratitude I feel for each and everyone of you. This is my gift to you. No matter how long we have known each other, I thank you from the depths of my soul. Here's to another 25 years.

Confidence Busters, Part 2

Sometimes we have trouble getting ahead in life. But simple ways of changing our thinking allows us to dramatically change our lives. Here are a few more tips for stomping out those confident busters:

  1. I don't have a track record. Don't concern yourself with lack of experience and past mistakes. Failures are your life lessons. Strengthen your record by remembering what has not worked for you so you can make a conscious effort to change your approach.
  2. People think I'm not (smart, successful, lovable, modest...) enough. Follow your own intuition and don't pay mind to what others think.
  3. I don't even know anybody who does that. Find a role model and allow that person to inspire you. If you're into fashion get the history of one fashion designer you admire. If you love business, study millionaires.
  4. I don't have what it takes. Expect doubt to show up, but don't let it in. affirm that everything you need is already within you.
  5. What if I fail? You will never know what will happen unless you take a chance. Remember your past successes and pinpoint the character trait that helped you succeed. Trust in the divine orchestration of life. What you  offer to this world is valuable, meaningful and unique.
Live you best life today, you deserve it.
